- SUPPORT PASSAGE OF BOOSTER SEAT LAW.
Florida is one of only 3 states in the U.S. which does not have a law enforcing the use of child restraint seats up to age 8. See HB 11 and SB 238 in the 2011 Florida Legislative session.
- SUPPORT PASSAGE OF TRAFFIC LAWS ADDRESSING DISTRACTED DRIVING AND SPECIFICALLY TEXTING. See HB 79 and SB 158 in the 2011 Florida Legislative session.
- PROMOTE AWARENESS AND PROTECTIVE LEGISLATION ADDRESSING VIOLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE—SPECIFICALLY AGAINST HEALTH CARE WORKERS.
- ADVOCATE FOR PASSAGE OF ALL RIDER HELMET LAWS.
Florida repealed its universal helmet law in 2000. After the repeal, helmet use decreased from 100 percent to 53 percent; motorcycle deaths increased by almost 50 percent; and the number of serious brain injuries doubled.
- SUPPORT NATIONAL AND STATE LEGISLATION FOR GRADUATED DRIVER LICENSING LAWS. See HB 515 and SB 1530 in the 2011 Florida Legislative session and visit the ENA LEGISLATIVE ACTION CENTER to find out more about the “STAND-UP ACT.”
